Superb GCSE Results
(Posted on 24/08/23)The Maelor School are celebrating their highest ever GCSE results which are amongst the best in Wales.
Despite press predictions that results nationally will fall , record numbers of pupils achieved grades of A*/A and A*-C.
Mr Simon Ellis Headteacher commented “We always suspected that the year group would break all previous records but to do it so convincingly is astonishing. Teachers have worked incredibly hard since the pandemic to ensure that each pupil achieves at least their targets, for most to exceed them, and by so much, I’m proud of their work. These outcomes place the school as one of the highest performing in Wales.”
Deputy Headteacher Katherine Garratt-Smith said, “We have worked hard to demonstrate the importance of dedication and resilience to their studies. Its so pleasing to see the outcomes when their hard work has paid off. Much credit should be given to their hardworking Parents who has supported them and us superbly.”
Assistant Headteacher Nicky Preston added “We have worked hard to foster a strong sense of belonging and community spirit, I’m so happy that they have done so well, not only in their academic studies but with supporting and encouraging each other. I know many are staying on to join the sixth form, but I wish those that are leaving us for more vocational studies the best of luck for the future, they have all been a pleasure to work with.”
