Dog Show and Fun Day(Posted on 18/07/12)On Saturday, 7th July despite the terrible weather the regional qualifier for the SCRUFFTS, CROSSBREED DOG OF THE YEAR 2012 took place at The Maelor School, Penley.
Four Local Dog Owners qualified to compete for the Kennel Club’s Crossbreed Dog of the Year final to be held later this year at Earls Court, London.
There are 15 qualifiers throughout the U.K. for the Kennel Club’s Cross breed Dog of the Year competition and The Maelor School was chosen as the venue to hold the North West & Welsh qualifying heat.
Over 250 dogs attended this prestigious competition and joined in with the Fun Day at The Maelor School.  The Scruffts heats were judged Tim Vincent, ex Blue Peter Presenter and Maelor School pupil and local dog groomer Miss Jo Lavin from Whitchurch, who is also the secretary at St. Alkmund’s Church.
Alongside the Scruffts heats and the Fun Day a Companion Dog Show was held and the Pedigree classes were judged by Miss Lucy Addoo and the Novelty classes by Miss Jo Addoo.
