Transport to The Maelor School

Many of our pupils travel beyond their usual catchment area. Please visit our dedicated Transport page for further information.

Managing the Transition to Our School

We know that the move to secondary school is a big, and often daunting move. We work closely with our pupils, primary schools and our families to make sure that the transition to our school is seamless. Our staff will visit your child’s primary school regularly during the year and will work closely with Year 6 teachers. Year 6 pupils visit the school for three ‘Taster Days’ in June, which allows our new pupils to fully understand what life as a Maelor pupil is like.

Pupils meet their form tutor and take part in sample lessons with their future class. We also offer an extra day of induction to all those pupils who may be transferring on their own so that they can meet and make friends ahead of the taster days in June. Parents are also invited to meet the Headteacher, senior staff, and the form tutors during an evening meeting in June.
