
The Maelor School Students Celebrate Another Year of Exceptional A-Level Results

There was a joyful atmosphere at The Maelor School, Penley today as Sixth Form students celebrated another outstanding set of A-Level results. This year’s cohort has achieved an exceptional number of top grades, with a particularly impressive proportion at A* and A.
Among the many success stories at The Maelor School this year, Iwan Davies achieved A*, A, A, B and will go on to study Mathematics at the University of Manchester, while Joseph Griffiths, with an outstanding set of A*, A, A, A, will also pursue Mathematics at the University of Lancaster. Megan Gurr secured A*, A, A, B and will study Accountancy at Queen Mary University of London.
Orpheus Ioannidis achieved A*, A*, A, B and is heading to the University of Loughborough to study Aeronautical Engineering. Ross Jones, with A*, A, A, C, will read Business Management at the University of Liverpool, and Tyler Leeming, who gained A*, A, A, B, will study Medicine and Surgery at Lancaster. Jayden Paddock earned A, B, B and will also attend Lancaster, studying Biology.
In computing, Liam Pallett achieved an exceptional A*, A*, A, A, A and will take up a place at the University of Sheffield to study Computer Science (Software Engineering). Ffion Price gained A*, A, A, A and will study Biology at the University of York, while Caitlin Rowley secured an impressive A*, A*, A*, A to read Chemistry at the University of Warwick.
Isobel Scarsbrook achieved A*, A, B, B and will study Law at the University of York. Emily Taylor earned A*, A, A, A and will read Medicine at the University of Bangor. Emily Tranter achieved a remarkable A*, A*, A*, A and will study Film Production at the University of Salford, while Jessica Tranter secured A*, A, A, A to read Law at York.
Freya Whitney-Laing gained A, A, B, B and will pursue Primary Education at Liverpool John Moores University. Finally, Nia Williams, with A*, A*, A, A, will take up a place at the University of Sheffield to study Aerospace Engineering.
Assistant Headteacher Penny Ellwood said: “It has been both a pleasure and a privilege to support these remarkable young adults throughout their Sixth Form journey. Their results are a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and positive attitude. They are now stepping into exciting futures, and I have no doubt they will continue to achieve great things.”
Head of Sixth Form Dyfan Williams added: “These results are the culmination of seven years of dedication, resilience, and a shared commitment to excellence. I have seen our students grow not only as learners but as confident and compassionate individuals who contribute positively to our school community. It’s wonderful to see so many heading to their first-choice universities to study a diverse range of subjects—from Medicine and Aerospace Engineering to Film Production and Primary Education. I am incredibly proud of them all and look forward to hearing about their future successes.”
