Amazing A level Results
(Posted on 15/08/19)The Maelor Sixth (at the Maelor School), are delighted with our outstanding ‘A’ level results this year. The highest the school has ever achieved, 48% of Grades were awarded A* or A. 100% of students gained Level 3 threshold.
In seven subject areas 100% of grades awarded were A*-B.
Director of Sixth form, Penny Ellwood, commented “All of our students and staff have performed fantastically. I am so proud of all the hard work and effort that has led to these amazing outcomes. They are going on to a variety of exciting and interesting destinations and I wish them all well.”
Headteacher Simon Ellis said “I have heard from the exam board that a number of our results are the best in North Wales, I am not surprised given the dedication and sheer hard work that our students and staff have put into their studies. Each year we do well but this year group have smashed all previous records.”
Student results include-
Abbie McBain from Wrexham achieving 5A* grades who will be studying Earth Sciences at Oxford University
Ellie Langley from Whitchurch who achieved 4A* and an A who will be studying Biology at Lancaster University
Grace Amedor from Wrexham achieved 4A* and will be studying Medicine at Cambridge University
Charlotte Davies from Ellesmere achieved 1A*, 3As will be studying Biology at St Andrews University
Joe Moran from Wrexham achieved 2As, 1B and 1C and will be studying Economics at Cardiff University.
