Pool

Dear Parent  / Carer.

You may have seen some inaccurate social media posts about our school pool so i thought I would explain the situation.

Due to disruption with the pool last year, and that the member of staff who manages the school has retired, there are currently no primary school bookings in the pool.

In addition, our attempts to employ a short-term replacement have proved unsuccessful.

Given that it isnt in use by the school at the moment, public funds are being used to maintain its temperature.  The cost for this has increased more than 800%.

Therefore, in order to ensure that school funds are directed towards the pupils that attend the school, we have recommended that we reduce the heating in the pool whilst continuing to keep its maintenance going.

This has had an impact on a private company that pay a small fee to hire the pool for a few hours a week.

The plan is to return to its full use in the summer once we have been able to recruit the appropriate staff and provide a regular service for the primary schools.

The plan will save tens of thousands of pounds which are allocated to the school for pupil use.
