Universities

Universities

Choosing which subjects to study at degree level can be a daunting task. The choice of one university from the 122 institutions in the UK is equally difficult and important. Students in year 12 and 13 are given expert advice at all stages to help them make these important decisions.

The process starts in year 12 when all students are given the opportunity to attend a university fair at either Liverpool or Manchester University. Most of the main universities will attend and can provide individual advice on the courses they run. Seminars in the major subject areas also help students to find out more about the areas of study they are considering.

The UCAS statement is completed 'online' and lots of advice and support is given, particularly in the process of writing the 'Personal Statement'.

Students can choose a maximum of 5 courses at different universities, although after they have received the decisions of the institutions of their choice, they will have to choose two from the list.

More details of the process can be found on the UCAS website.
