Spanish is a major world language and is used in business, the arts and academic research as a first or second language in over 100 countries.
The AS and A level examinations combine vigorous study of the language with an exploration of the culture of Spain and Spanish operating centres.
An A level in Spanish is accepted as a qualification for entry into a wide range of university courses.
Oral examination (12 - 14 mins) 30% of AS, (i.e. 15% of A level).
Listening and responding (1 1/2 hours) 30% of AS, (i.e. 15% of A level).
Reading and responding (2 hours) 40% of AS, (i.e. 20% of A level).
Candidates may sit these three components in May/June 9fthe first year. Units FR2 and FR3 will also be available in January. Alternatively, some or all of these components can be sat in May/June of the second year. Any unit may be re-sat once only and the better result of the two carried forward.
Advanced level comprises AS and A2
