The Maelor School is once again providing the opportunity to take part in the young enterprise scheme. Given the success of the previous group in 05-06 the scheme is being offered to year 12's.
It has proven to be an excellent qualification on a C.V, being very highly respected by both employers and universities.
Young enterprise companies are real enterprises. They are organised on the pattern of a limited company and are legally "branches" of young enterprise.
Your young enterprise company is made up of young people, known as achievers. All achievers must be shareholders and all are directors of the young enterprise company.
A successful Y.E company will need to generate lots of ideas to generate lots of ideas to create products and solve problems. Good teams generate more ideas, so it follows that the success of your company will be closely linked with how well you work together as a team and how innovative you are.
Everyone who fully participates in the company can ask to take part in the young enterprise Europe examination. You can't revise for this exam because there are no textbooks and no syllabus. The examination certificate is a nationally recognised level 2 qualification. Achieving this tells employers and others you understand the world of work and business and you're just what they're looking for.
Our last group was Devious Devices. They sold novelties, gifts and gadgets. They attended the Wrexham Young Enterprise Board Wrexham Christmas Trade Fair and won! The mayor presented the prize to the company.
