Year 10 Work Experience

All pupils in year 10 have the opportunity to spend two weeks on work experience during the last two weeks of summer term. Careful preparation and follow-up ensure that maximum benefit is gained. Our visits to the pupils and discussions with their employers confirm the well deserved reputation which the Maelor School pupils have in the area. Interesting placements have included the palaeontology department of Cardiff University, a ship engineering works in Birkenhead and a two week placement working in the marketing department at the Ninety Seven Group in Hong Kong. A comment from a Wrexham employer is typical "If you have any more like him send them along!"

Despite our rural location, we aim to develop in all pupils an understanding of the world of industry through a cross-curricular programme which includes simulations and role play in school, factory visits, in-depth case studies of Wrexham based companies and geography field work.
