Victoria Kente's Visit here
We have been successful in being awarded a British Council Cymru grant to develop our links with St. Saviour's School in Lesotho. A teacher from our partner school will be visiting Penley in October 2008 and a teacher from the Maelor School will visit Lesotho during the early part of 2008.

Wales and Lesotho are national partners. Both countries have similar populations and size, they are both bilingual and are equally blessed with a high rainfall!
Lesotho is a country which is completely surrounded by South Africa. It is an upland country with most of the land higher than Snowdon!
Our school has been linked with a school called St Saviour's High School in the north east of Lesotho. All year 9 pupils at The Maelor School have been involved with our new friends by writing letters to explain what life is like living in Wales. We have also received some letters back describing life in Lesotho.
All pupils learn English at school because it is one of the official languages of the country.
Here is an extract from one of the letters from a pupil in St. Saviour's School
"My school is St Saviour's High School. My teachers are about 16 the pupils in my class are 47. The classes in my school are 10, we do about 9 subjects. We wear 2 uniforms, which are; Grey trousers, with white shirts, and khaki trousers, with khaki shirts"
